About the Author: Ann Kummer, PhD, CCC-SLP (Ret.), FASHA retired as Senior Director of the Division of Speech-Language Pathology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (the largest pediatric SLP program in the nation). She is currently Professor Emeritus at the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine. Dr. Kummer has done over 300 state and national and over 100 international lectures and seminars in the areas of cleft palate, velopharyngeal dysfunction, and business practices in speech-language pathology. She taught a graduate level craniofacial course at 5 universities for many years. She has published 65 peer-reviewed articles, 31 book chapters in edited books, and 4 books including Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Conditions: A Comprehensive Guide to Clinical Management, 4th Edition, which includes an online course. She was the developer of the Simplified Nasometric Assessment Procedures (SNAP) test that is incorporated in the PENTAX Medical nasometer, and she holds a patent on the Nasoscope. She received many honors and awards, including Honors of the Association from ASHA, the highest award given by the association.
