Premaxillary Setback Simulation Lab
Premaxillary Setback
Premaxillary Setback Surgical Simulation Lab
Led by Dr. Usama S. Hamdan & Dr. Saleigh Adams
This workshop will include three key components:
- Lecture and Case Discussion: Addressing challenges and solutions for managing protuberant premaxilla in low-resource settings.
- Anesthesia Considerations: Practical approaches for cost-effective methods in LMIC regions, including ET tube positioning, taping, throat pack, etc., ET tube options, facial nerve blocks, vomerine local anesthesia injection technique, local infiltration, and local anesthesia mixture.
- Hands-On Surgical Simulation: Step-by-step practice of single-stage surgical interventions.
Management of protuberant premaxilla presents significant challenges, especially in regions with limited access to presurgical orthopedics. This simulation lab is designed to address the increasing incidence of this condition and equip participants with the necessary skills for successful outcomes. Participants will learn proper planning and execution of surgical techniques, including:
- Single – Stage Posterior vomerine ostectomy
- Bilateral gingivoperioplasties
- Bilateral Cleft Lip Repair
- Primary Cheiloplasty (Step Down Technique) to ensure Cupid’s Bow symmetry & shape.
- Primary rhinoplasty in BCLP Patients with Protuberant Premaxilla.
- Alar base suspending suture, alar lobule transfixion sutures, soft triangle suspending sutures, double-dome sutures, etc.
- Triangular & quadrangular sutures in nostril & Cupid’s Bow reconstruction
Renowned experts will guide participants through these procedures, emphasizing strategies to prevent poor outcomes such as lip dehiscence and protruding premaxilla through the nostril. Participants will gain hands-on experience with realistic simulation models, interactive discussions, and expert feedback.
